The greatest tool a beginner drummer can have isn’t a drum lesson dvd, a practice pad or even a good drumming friend. It’s a metronome or click track. It’s important when you’re first learning to play the drums that you take advantage of click tracks to practice playing in proper time. It’s easy to mess up your timing when you’re playing alone but when you add in a guitar player, pianist and bass player trust me it will get even harder if you haven’t been playing to a click track. So if you’re just starting out get a hold of a good click track you can use in your ears, it’ll be worth it’s weight in gold as your learn.
